WTF? I used to date a PUNK ROCKER!

I can't believe I was talking to my old lover and friend, Lenny Steel.  I knew the last time I talked with him he was at the start of a Black Punk Revival called the Afro Punk scene.

So this blog will start out with their story....just a little bit because I could write a book about them.
So first , I just want to give you a brief history.  Pure Hell hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  I didn't meet them til they got to lower eastside of NY.

So, I know you are curious- how did I end up hanging out with Black punkers?  Well, the Queen here used to be a stripper!  So enough about me.  I will tell the story about me and Lenny at another time.

Now I present to you the most awesome PUNK rock band----- PURE HELL

This is the wikipedia version:

Pure Hell is the 1st original all Black punk-rock band, established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Quoted by Bad Brains "as an early influence", in 1974,[1] during the high point of punk culture in New York City, London and Los Angeles.[2][3]
Amid the pioneers of the post-garage, acid rock, glam-theatre era of the late 60's/early 70's, Pure Hell were among the first of their kind, comparable to the MC5, Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, Germs, and fellow afropunkers the Bad Brains who have signified Pure Hell as an early influence. Commercially, the band had little success, and only released one single ("These Boots are Made for Walking" b/w "No Rules")[4] and one album (Noise Addiction), which went unreleased for 28 years.[1] Pure Hell also has an unreleased album produced in the mid 1990s by former members of L.A. Guns, Nine Inch Nails, and Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, entitled The Black Box. This album has Lemmy Kilmeister singing background vocals in a rare song titled "The Call". In 2012 they reformed to play they're first gig since 1979 at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool in the Empress Ballroom alongside the likes of Rancid, Buzzcocks, Public Image Limited and Social Distortion.

When I first met them, I think Lenny had blond hair and I had a purple kinda conservative mohawk.
It was a CRAZY time.  I was dancing at SHOW WORLD - one of the most famous peep show on 42nd and 8th Avenue.

Our meeting was funny because at that time I was stripping and totally into Disco- dating a PUNK rocker.

Now to be honest I don't remember a lot of sordid details due to our over zealous recreational drug use!
